Biographical Information
Although I was born in Savannah, I have lived in the Wilmington, North Carolina area since I was two years old, with the exception of the time I lived in Chapel Hill going to school. I have been married for over 15 years to Ashley Burton Wilson, and have two exceptional children, Spencer (15)and Emily (13).
From 1993 - 2006, I was the owner/operator of a local business, Encore Publications, which produced Encore Magazine and other specialty publications. The business attained a high level of respect in the community and grew exponentially in revenue and profit. I sold the business in 2004 to Morris Multimedia, and continued on for an additional two years as a partner to assure the company's transition.
My primary strength is in the diversity of skills attained as a small business owner. I have experience in personnel management, budgeting, publication layout and design, website creation and development, writing and editing and all facets of running a small business, from marketing and sales to accounting. I am creative, goal oriented, accustomed to deadlines and attuned to the bottom line.
In my spare time, I enjoy water sports, tennis, golf and soccer.
